Dr. Amy L. Barrion is a highly skilled, board-certified comprehensive ophthalmologist and laser refractive surgeon. Since 2004, she has completed more than 14,000 laser vision correction procedures and has been performing ICL procedures since 2010. The vision loss and limitations experienced by a close family member inspired her deep passion and dedication to preserving and enhancing sight for more than 20 years.
A native of Buffalo, New York, she earned her Bachelor’s degree in Nutritional Science with honors from Syracuse University and her Doctor of Medicine from the State University of New York College of Medicine at Syracuse. She completed an internship in Internal Medicine at the National Naval Medical Center in Bethesda, MD, followed by an Ophthalmology residency at the Naval Medical Center San Diego.
With 25 years of service in the Navy, she held several leadership positions, including Chief of the Medical Staff, Chair of the Ophthalmology Department, and Head of Refractive Surgery. As a highly experienced refractive surgeon for over 18 years, she has performed more than 15,000 procedures on our nation’s military personnel, encompassing PRK, LASIK, SMILE, ICL, cataract surgery, and refractive lens exchange.
She is a member of the American Academy of Ophthalmology and the American Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgeons. Beyond her clinical work, her humanitarian spirit has driven her to participate in several surgical outreach missions in Central America.

Dr. Barrion enjoys spending time with her family (including her spouse, the other Dr. Barrion), as well as engaging in sports and fitness, celebrating holidays, cooking, and exploring art.
